As Aanso, Balthazar, and Tyosa are returning back from Imew's party (Last Legend 7: The Inventor), Kesua returns from her own exploits. Arthur returned in a flash of light as the crystal at the end of the Dochysh Jeq glowed with mysterious light.

Kesua said that she had been talking to her employers about the Mysterious Box that they had recovered in Last Legend 4: Abominations and Books, but that she could provide more information on that later.

Arthur explained that he had been taken to a crystal realm, similar to the one they had been in when they first met Feste in Last Legend 2: Crystal Caverns. He explained that while there, he had seen a vision of Molly, a woman from his past, with the largest crystal he had ever seen. He said that she used an arcanium device and caused the crystal to shatter, and then floating islands all around her (possibly like those of the Soaring Ranyo region) fell down from the sky. Arthur explained that he'd gone to Mūsūyya for the arcanification celebration (Last Legend 1: Arcanification Celebration) to begin with because he believed she might be there.

Balthazar revealed that there was a new member of the League of Arcanists named Molly, and that she also fit Aanso's description of the woman he'd seen sneaking around Imew's secret lab before they had been attacked.

Balthazar also revealed that his former mentor, Chyibro had "died" in a tragic experiment, but that Chyibro's essence now resided in Balthazar's own mind. Chyibro had told Balthazar that many of Imew's designs were based on his (Chyibro's) own notes. Balthazar very much wants to remove Chyibro from his mind, and has been told that he will likely need a giant crystal to do so successfully. One as giant as what Arthur described from his vision of Molly might do the trick.

The next day, Balthazar reached out through the arcanium network running below Datdūm to see if he could find Molly or any other members of the League of Arcanists who were operating in town. Balthazar received a message inviting him to their rented townhouse.

Balthazar, Aanso, Arthur, and Kesua traveled to the League of Arcanists townhouse in Datdūm. Tyosa had been nowhere to be found that morning. Kesua had suggested that he might have been basking in his newfound nobility, now that he had his signet ring.

At the townhouse, the group met with Yandi, the League of Arcanists project manager who had been in charge of the arcanification ceremony in Mūsūyya, and Suuldaa, another League of Arcanists member. They explained that, after the arcanification had been disrupted, they had come to Datdūm in order to send word to Vanguard City about what had happened. While in Datdūm, they had been concerned with other investigations that had given them sensitive information which would need to be delivered to Vanguard City personally.

Molly returned with parts required to fix the arcane infrastructure of Mūsūyya. She and Arthur had an awkward interaction. Yandi asked Balthazar (and the rest of the group) if they would be willing to go to Mūsūyya and install the fix so that the city could get power again. Yandi and her team would go themselves, she explained, but they have that sensitive information to bring to Vanguard City. The sensitive information, Yandi claims, is about the arcane people that Imew is building and the threat they might pose to humanity.

Arthur argued that Molly should come with his group in order to help Balthazar install the fix to the Mūsūyyan infrastructure. Based on his compelling argument, Yandi and Molly agreed that she could go with them.

The group left a note for Tyosa as the Thief and Wain tavern, where they had been staying, and then they headed off. On the second day of their journey to Mūsūyya, they heard the sounds of metal clashing with metal and unmistakable combat. Rushing ahead, they found Kismo, the girl from Mūsūyya, as she was slaying the last of four watchers (lesser scouts of the robot threat.)

Kismo explained that Lyatbi, the daughter of Aadu (who owns the Crooked Arrow Bar in Mūsūyya), had been missing for some time, and that she (Kismo) had volunteered to search for the girl. She had found this trail, but it was leading her deeper into the territory of the robots, which made her more than a little frightened for her own safety.

After some deliberation, the group decided to help Kismo follow the trail and search for Lyatbi. The trail lead them to a cave with metal walls. Going through the cave, they came to an elevator. The elevator had 10 buttons, each of which corresponded to a different floor of the underground facility. Assessing the symbols, Arthur felt confident in which symbol they should choose.

As they reached the floor for the button he had pressed, Arthur went ahead into the room on the other side of the door. The room had four metal pylons which cackled with energy like that of lighting (electricity, which powers the robots, is not a force that the people of Tsud'uula have harnessed. They have control of clockwork, steam, coal, and now, through the arcane crystals, arcanium, but they have not mastered the electricity of the Colorless before them.)

An arc of energy lashed out from one of the pylons and struck Arthur, harming him. A screen behind it lit up with information that seemed to be about Arthur's biological makeup. Balthazar followed Arthur into the room and was struck by one of the pylons as well.

Arthur and Balthzar rushed to another hall leading out of the room, both getting struck by two of the other pylons. Kesua and Aanso followed after them, avoiding getting struck while the pylons were still charging up. Down the hall, the group found another room in which was a metal box containing a Rocket Launcher with one rocket in its cartridge.

As they turned back towards the elevator, Arthur built a machine to go ahead of the group and attract the charges of the pylons. The group was then able to walk through the room and back to the elevator without issue. Looking at the elevator again, Balthazar and Arthur were able to determine the button they believed to be correct for what they were looking for, and they pressed the button.

The elevator opened into a hall where loud mechanical noises could be heard. Over the mechanical noise was a loud stomping sound, as though a massive creature pacing. Rounding the corner and moving ahead, the group found a glass column that stretched from floor to ceiling and that was filled with a glowing green liquid.

Down the hall, the group saw a Watcher, one of the scouts of the robots, moving and patrolling the area. Aanso used time magic to incapacitate the Watcher, but he knew that it might not hold. The group would have to act fast...next time.
