The team (Aanso, Arthur Grant, Balthazar, and Kesua), along with Molly, an arcanist; and Kismo, a girl from Mūsūyya, had entered a high-tech ruin of the ancients as they searched for Lyatbi, a girl from Kismo's hometown. As they searched, they had encountered a Watcher, one of the robots which served as a scout for others. Aanso had just used his time magic to incapacitate a Watcher.

Ruins & Robots 2: Saved Images Available for Preorder

The second book of the Ruins & Robots series, Saved Images, was originally scheduled to be released on September 20, 2019. Unfortunately, my mental health made me unable to work on editing book 2, thus holding up the rest of the series.

However, I did finish editing and formatting Saved Images on September 20, 2020, exactly 1 year after when it was scheduled to come out (this was a major coincidence, not a plan). Now, you can preorder the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JM41FWF

It will be released next week on Thursday, October 1st.

I Have a Plan...

Although, it’s really more of a schedule.

Heroism and Other Lies

All five stories of the first season of Heroism and Other Lies are now available for free through Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program. And if you’re not a Kindle Unlimited reader, they’re still pretty cheap. I’m hoping that this gets the story into the hands of more readers, and that it might cause the series to gain enough support to justify working on a second season.

Ruins & Robots

Lately, I’ve gone back to working on Ruins & Robots. I’ve got an intro short story and the first two books pretty much ready to go, and I don’t think it’ll be too long before the next two are ready to go. The first four books of the Ruins & Robots series represent the first full arc of the overall story, so I’ll likely take a short break from R&R once I’m done with that. I’d hope to put out 3 or 4 more Ruins & Robots books in 2020.

I’m hoping to drop the short story, Tutorial, in July. Tutorial will be free for all readers.
The first book of the series, Audio Virtualization, will be put out in August.

Each of the following books will be released one month after the previous one. Meaning book 2 (Saved Images) will be released in September, book 3 will be released in October, and book 4 will be released in November.

These will all be available for free on Kindle Unlimited, or fairly cheap otherwise.

The Book of Destiny

Technical difficulties and other issues set me very far behind in my quest to start my Book of Destiny podcast. I’m hoping to surpass these issues and begin the launch the Book of Destiny in January of 2020. This puts me a whole year behind what I’d hoped to do with the Book of Destiny, but I think it’s important that I handle it correctly.

While the Book of Destiny, being offered as a free podcast, offers me the least potential for profit (in fact, it stands to cost me quite a bit), I have to acknowledge that it is the most important of the creative pursuits that I am working on.

I want it to reach people, perhaps more than any of my other projects. Right now, I’m sort of seeing it as my life’s work.

So, I’m very much hoping that making Heroism and Other Lies and Ruins & Robots available and more accessable to readers, I might gain a larger following in order to gain support for the Book of Destiny (and the other Books of the Universe to follow it.)

"Leave the Light On" Release Day

I just put out a new Cypher System adventure called Leave the Light On. This adventure puts players amid an annual Festival of Lights in honor of the yearly arrival of the famous dimension-hopping city of light, Lumoscity. When Lumoscity doesn't show up, the players are sent out to investigate the occurrence. They will find themselves wrapped up in a complex plot where their choices could affect the future of the world forever.

Check it out here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/266905/Leave-the-Light-On

This adventure took me a bit longer to put together than some of the other ones I have created, but I think that it's higher quality as a result.

I even created 4 Cypher System Foci for the adventure, detailing them all the way from 1st Tier through 6th Tier!

I hope you'll check it out, and I hope that you enjoy the adventure!

Heroism and Other Lies Episode 101 is NOW AVAILABLE!

Get it in ebook or print!

Thus begins the story of Joseph Bloodworth, a former hero who thought he could live the quiet life. When he's contacted by a hacker and a corporation, he wants nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, lives are at stake.

Maria is a pilot who hasn't gotten to be in the air for years due to replacement by automation. Now that she's offered the chance, she's excited to take it, even if the job is a bit suspicious.

Neither of them expects a super powered madman to get into their way. Not to mention mutants, robots, and the corp that hired Maria in the first place.

Exciting News: Heroism and Other Lies and Night War

Heroism and Other Lies: Episode 101: Pilot

Beware the Ides of March!

The first episode of "Heroism and Other Lies" is all set to go. It is going to be released on the ides of March, that is, March 15th. The Ebook version is available for preorder from Smashwords for just $0.99!

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/708839

(Let me know if for some reason the link doesn't work.)

A print version will also be made available on the 15th.

"Episode 101: Pilot" is the first novella in the Heroism and Other Lies series. This short book tells of Joseph Bloodworth, a retired hero who just wants to be left alone, and Maria Daalmans, a former pilot who now works for a powerful corporation. Both of them get caught up in the schemes of corporations, a hacker, and a superpowered madman. Their lives, and the world itself, will never be the same.

The story is set in a cyberpunk-esque universe with a superhero comic book feel to the pace and action.

I have the rest of the first season written in rough draft form, and I hope that you'll give the first book a try.

Night War: The Dark Side of Dayton

I
wrote a short story for an anthology that has been published in ebook form.

My short story is called One Night Only and it's about a magician, a ghost (or a couple ghosts), and a theater.

The anthology as a whole focuses on fantasy/supernatural stories that take place in or around Dayton, Ohio. You'll find stories about monsters, secret military experiments done in Hanger 18, and many more things that go bump in the night.

Publication Day: Wonder Vault Heist

I have released my second Cypher System adventure, The Wonder Vault Heist.

If you've read my posts on heist adventures, this was the adventure I was designing that got me thinking about them.

This is a heist adventure designed for a science fantasy setting, but which could easily be converted to other settings/systems.

The heist revolves around a mechanical/mystical vault, left by the ancients, which can bend space and time, and the sinister group that controls it. As the players get closer to the wonder vault itself, they learn more about their enigmatic employer, and about the events of the past which tore a rip in space and time where the vault now stands.

If you haven't checked out my posts on running heist adventures and are interested in making/running your own, see the posts below:

Publication Day: Machine God's Temple

In yesterday's post I'd mentioned that I was hoping to get out The Machine God's Temple very soon?

Very soon is today.

http://www.rpgnow.com/product/193385/The-Machine-Gods-Temple

This is an adventure designed for the Cypher System (originally based on an adventure I ran in Numenera) where player characters explore an ancient temple for a powerful Machine God. The temple is filled with tech that was never designed to exist this long, but which is far more advanced than that which the current world is familiar with. There are automatons, a maze of teleporters, travel across the world and back in an instant, and more complications from the unfathomable and malfunctioning technology. Even if the players can get through this, they still have to parlay with the Machine God itself and hope that it will provide them the help they sought here.

This adventure is 25 pages and includes 5 pregenerated characters.
